Moray SWAP is delivering a Step into Childcare short course designed to build confidence, practical skills and real understanding of what working in childcare involves.
Start Date: Monday 1 June 2026
Duration: 14 days (Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.30pm)
Location: UHI Moray
This course is ideal for people who may be unsure of their next step, returning to learning or work, or seeking a supported route into the childcare sector. It combines recognised certifications with hands on experience, giving participants something meaningful to take forward.
Participants will benefit from:
- Childcare First Aid certification
- REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene
- Industry visits
- Learning about play and outdoor play
- Child development
- Safeguarding
- Supporting children’s behaviour
By the end of the course, participants will have improved confidence, a clearer understanding of the childcare sector, and practical evidence of their commitment and readiness, whether they choose to progress into further education, employment or self employment as a childminder.

Coffee Afternoon with CLD Youth Work – Keyworkers and Young People
A drop in afternoon for keyworkers and their young people to meet the CLD Youth Work team and find more about their offer. Please note this is only open to young people 16-25 who are currently engaged with the Moray Council Employability or Mentoring Young Talent teams.
Community Childcare Survey for Keith Families
Strathisla Children’s Centre is expanding its services to include breakfast clubs, after school care and holiday clubs alongside its existing early learning and childcare provision. To help shape these new services, the team is inviting families in and around Keith to complete a short survey about their childcare needs. Feedback from parents and carers will help ensure future provision supports local children and families in the best possible way.
